Easy Ways to Make Money Using Your Digital Camera

If you have a knack for photography, and enjoy doing it, then you might want to think about using your hobby as a way to make some extra money for yourself. If you are skilled with a camera, and are motivated to earn your own money in this way, you can be a successful photographer, even on a part time basis. While more and more people have their own digital cameras now, they still seek out the services of a professional quite often for photos, especially when it comes to having photos done of their children.

The first thing you will need to do is create a really good portfolio, one that can adequately show off your talents. You want to put your best photos into your portfolio. If you do different types of photography, you might want to have a different portfolio for each type, to create a more professional look. As you do better shots, replace the old photos with them, so that your portfolio always adequately shows off your skills.

Since so many people are into Internet marketing nowadays, you may find some of your most loyal customers by advertising your services online. Each new website that is created has to have images and graphics, so why shouldn’t you be the one to do some of them?

Another great market open to photographers is weddings. People want great high-quality photos of their wedding, and they don’t usually care to pay a fair price for them. Most weddings occur either at night or on the weekends, which is one reason why they are so popular with photographers, as they can do them in their spare time, and still maintain their full-time job during the week, until their business takes off.

As already stated, parents love having professional photos taken of their children, and if you have patience and are good with kids, then you might want to get into this type of photography as well. If you can make the parents happy with the first shoot, odds are, you will have a loyal customer for years to come.

You may also want to talk with your local newspaper to see if they would hire you on a freelance basis for their photo needs. Some will start off paying you per photo, while others will hire to cover various events, on a part-time basis. If you wish to do so, you may be hired on full-time if you do a good job, or you can continue to freelance in your spare time, and still grow your photography business.

Once you make a name for yourself in the community, some of the daycares and preschools may hire you to come do photo sessions on occasion. Most of the time, part of the proceeds go to the school, and you keep the remainder of the profit. This is also a great way to build loyal customers, if you do a good job and are good with the kids!
